A Message from the CAPS President for October 2025

Hey CAPS! This is your president, Mark Black, with your message for October.

I can’t believe we’re already in October! I hope you’re having a fantastic fall and gearing up for a strong finish to 2025. There’s a lot happening within CAPS and your leadership team right now.

Chapter Leadership Summit

We just wrapped up an amazing Chapter Leadership Summit!
A big thanks goes out to Barb and Robin on the national board for organizing such a great event.

It was a wonderful two days spent listening, learning, and collaborating with chapter leaders from across the country. Together, we explored ways to make CAPS the best it can possibly be.

Our chapter leaders left recharged, rejuvenated, and ready to serve their members. Thank you to each of you for the time and energy you dedicate to your chapters — CAPS wouldn’t be what it is without you. As a national board, we’re here to support you in any way we can.

National Board Nominations

You may have noticed an important message in your inbox recently — nominations for the CAPS National Board are now open!

If you’re someone who’s interested in getting more involved with CAPS, now is your chance. Maybe you’re a current chapter leader, or you’ve served in the past and are ready to contribute at the national level.

We’ll be holding elections soon, and all board positions must be ratified by the end of the year. Serving on the national board is a rewarding experience — I can tell you from my own journey through chapter leadership, national service, and now the presidency that the more you give to CAPS, the more you get from CAPS.

If you’d like to talk with a current board member about what it’s like to serve, we’d be happy to share our experiences and answer any questions. I encourage you to consider putting your name forward — if you have something to offer, we’d love to have you!

Upcoming CAPS Town Hall

Also in your inbox, you should see an invitation to our upcoming CAPS Town Hall.

We’ll be making an important announcement about changes to the membership criteria — part of our effort to welcome more members into the CAPS community while maintaining the integrity of our professional standards.

This event is also a great opportunity to share your thoughts, ask questions, and have your voice heard.

Be sure to register using the link in your email to receive the meeting access.
If you can’t find the invitation, just email info@canadianspeakers.org, and we’ll send you a new one.

CAPS Convention in Halifax

And of course, we’re all looking forward to seeing everyone in Halifax this December for the CAPS Convention!

Our amazing co-chairs, Ravi and Tyler, are working hard to create an unforgettable experience.

If you’ve already paid your early bird deposit but haven’t completed your registration, please do so soon to secure your spot.

If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time — visit 👉 canadianspeakers.org and click on Convention, or go directly to capsconvention.com.

The CAPS Convention is always an incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and grow. I often say I learn more in those few days than in the rest of the year — it’s truly that impactful.

See You Soon!

That’s all for now. I look forward to seeing you at the Town Hall — and, of course, in Halifax this December for Convention!

Until then, take care and keep shining as proud members of CAPS.
