This month on CAPS Behind the Mic, CAPS Member Norm Bowley and Marcus Gallie will take us through a high-level overview of intellectual property and related law, then a drill-down into the major concerns of speakers in terms of protecting their copyright and trademarks, and avoiding infringement on the property of others. We will conduct a tour d’horizon of the issues and provide practical insights both for protection and avoidance of infringing the rights of others. Norman Bowley
Norm Bowley is a CAPS member who teaches primarily on professional excellence and communication. Norm practiced law in Ottawa from 1981 to 2018, and before that was a teacher. Norm earned his JD (Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1979 and his Master of Laws from York University. Along the way he acquired his Trademark Agent designation, as well as that of the Trust and Estate Professional. Norm does not profess to have the IP depth of Marcus, but along his journey assisted in drafting some really interesting patents and litigated some pretty wild patent and copyright infringement cases, including one which tangentially involved chasing cows through Saskatchewan mud. |
