STS – 2015 Dec – Welcome New Board Member – Joel Sweeney
Welcome New Board Member – Joel Sweeney
“I joined CAPS Atlantic in December of 2009. It was about one week prior to the convention in Calgary and I have attended every convention since. I had been in the speaking business, part time, since 1995 and was getting ready to go into my business full time. For over 20 years I have researched, written, trained, coached and spoken about all forms of oral communication, one-on-one to one-on-a-thousand.”
Joel had been a member of the CAPS Atlantic Board for five years in a variety of roles including Program Chair and President. He was a member of the Editorial Board for Speaking of Impact and attended several CAPS Leadership Summits and an NSA Chapter Leadership Institute. Joel feels that this involvement has given him not only a deeper insight into CAPS, but a deeper insight to the speaking profession.
“I have valued my time with CAPS. I was made welcomed from day one. I have made numerous friends in the past six years. I definitely feel that I am a part of the CAPS family. I am honoured to continue to have the opportunity to give back by participating on the national board. I look forward to the new challenges and the new learning.”
Joel lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He is author of The Wedding MC Handbook, Little Helpings of Food for Thought, and The Speaker’s Tool Box – Perfecting the Craft of Speaking. You can contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org or check his website at www.joelsweeney.com.
