Watch the video or keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAPS PRESIDENT\u2019S WISDOM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s begin with our CAPS President\u2019s Wisdom. Our past president, Kristin Arnold, shared two pieces of excellent advice that apply not only to this role, but to all of our businesses. First: guardrails and boundaries matter. Set clear expectations\u2014such as not reading emails after 7:00 p.m.\u2014to protect your sleep and your energy. This is a demanding role, and simple auto-replies like, \u201cThank you for your message. I will respond on Friday,\u201d can help you maintain those boundaries. Her second suggestion was to create a physical or digital box for the cards and notes people send you. One day, you\u2019ll open it and be reminded of the impact you\u2019ve made. Such wise advice\u2014thank you so much, Kristin Arnold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d also like to thank David Guthro for his wonderful insight. He said, \u201cBe the garlic clove. You put both feet into everything you do, so protect your energy from the vampires that try to drain it. Sometimes they\u2019re people; sometimes they\u2019re situations that come out of the woodwork. Strong boundaries aren\u2019t about pushing others away\u2014they\u2019re about keeping your energy where it matters most.\u201d Thank you, David. Please visit the CAPS website to learn more about everything they offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAPS NEWS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have lots of updates to share. First, it\u2019s renewal season. Key dates to remember: March 10 is the deadline to qualify for early-bird bonuses, and April 1 is the final deadline to renew. After that, you lose your original initiation fee and would need to start the membership process again. The early-bird draw includes a chance to win a one-year extension of the CAPS Academy All-Access Pass and an eSpeakers Pro Plan upgrade. When you renew, you can choose a one-year or multi-year option. Multi-year renewals include a bonus: an exclusive in-person mastermind (travel expenses not included; date and location to be confirmed). Multi-year membership also provides a discount over three or five years, so it\u2019s worth considering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also add-ons available when you renew, allowing you to enhance your membership benefits. These include the High-Income Earners Group, the Grey House Association Listing Directory, and the CAPS Academy All-Access Pass. The Grey House Directory, which used to be offered by specific chapters, now provides access to associations across Canada, including contact emails and key decision-makers, if you add it to your membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAPS NATIONAL BOARD FEATURE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That leads nicely into this month\u2019s CAPS Board Feature. They\u2019ll be happy to assist you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MORE CAPS NEWS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Business Starter Track is going full force. The 10-month guided program is full and currently has a waitlist. The good news is that we\u2019ll be launching a new cohort in 2026, so you won\u2019t need to wait until 2027. We\u2019ve recruited an outstanding leadership team: Steve Lowell, Beverley Beuermann-King, Linda Edgecombe, Codi Shewan, and Glynis Devine, with support from Deri Latimer and one additional leader to be confirmed. It\u2019s going to be a fantastic team\u2014I almost want to sign up myself, even though I\u2019m leading the other cohort! Stay tuned for dates via the website, press releases, and member communications. You can also add your name now to the interest list on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re also delighted to welcome new members who joined in February. Our new Professional Members are Trish Tutton and Christa Heale, both from Alberta. Our new Associate Members are Tracey McConnachie, Marla Simlett, Sherri Young, Ken Sky, and David Selch of Prairie Shield, representing B.C. and Alberta. Please join me in welcoming them to CAPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAPS EVENTS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 17, we\u2019ll host a Behind the Mic national online event with GBA LLP Accounting, focused on the unique accounting challenges of running a speaking business. Full details are available on the CAPS website, where all events are posted. I encourage you to check the site regularly, as new chapter-level events are added frequently. Be sure to see what\u2019s happening in your region as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GLOBAL SPEAKERS SUMMIT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also in March, I\u2019ll be in Cairns, Australia, at the Global Speakers Summit (GSS), where I\u2019ll be speaking on the main stage. I\u2019m incredibly excited. The Global Speaking Federation will also be hosting many activities, including the launch of the book <em>Global Voices: Shaping the Future<\/em> on Professional Speakers Celebration Day, March 14, on the main stage. This book features speakers from around the world\u2014including yours truly and several Canadian colleagues\u2014and I look forward to sharing more about it on March 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PROFESSIONAL SPEAKERS CELEBRATION DAY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help celebrate Professional Speakers Celebration Day, shareable tiles are being provided by the marketing team. You can download them from the website or social channels, add your photo if you wish\u2014as I did\u2014and post them on March 14.
