This is my very first official CAPS video, and I wanted to share a quick welcome message to acknowledge what we\u2019ve just experienced together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We just came out of an absolutely fantastic convention. The best convention&nbsp;<em>this year<\/em>\u2014because apparently we\u2019re not allowed to say \u201cbest convention ever,\u201d even though we all think it. Thank you, Ravi. Thank you, Tyler. Thank you, Mark. Under your leadership, we experienced a truly unique and phenomenal event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it was all because of the people. It was because of you. Because of everyone\u2019s contribution, and the way we make each other feel welcome, heard, and understood. Because we get each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though some of us came back with a little bit of a \u201cugh\u201d\u2026 cheers to you. Yes. Me included. And it was all worth it, wasn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea behind my presidency this year is about creating space for others to shine. Giving the opportunity to the board, to chapter leaders, and to members to step forward, grow, and lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ve already heard&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1147429058\/6dbcaade63?share=copy&amp;fl=sv&amp;fe=ci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my presidential acceptance speech<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1147429058\/6dbcaade63?share=copy&amp;fl=sv&amp;fe=ci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;<\/a>and the three priorities for the year, so&nbsp;I won\u2019t repeat them here.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1147429058\/6dbcaade63?share=copy&amp;fl=sv&amp;fe=ci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">We\u2019ll include the link if you\u2019d like to watch that video<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, I want to talk about something different. I want to talk about Super Mario\u2014and how it connects beautifully to CAPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You know the game. You start at a level, an obstacle appears, you punch it, you earn points, and you move to the next level. Then another obstacle shows up, you punch it, get more points, and move forward again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s the thing. I\u2019m a doer. I\u2019m efficient. I\u2019m fast. And this year, I\u2019ve committed to working on my \u201cSuper Mario skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What does that mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It means that when a board member faces an obstacle, I\u2019m not going to jump in front of them and do the punch myself. Because if I do that, I get the points and move to the next level\u2014but they stay behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then I\u2019d do it again. And again. I\u2019d keep advancing, while others wouldn\u2019t get the chance to earn their own points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was actually the very first thing I addressed at our first board meeting on Wednesday, the day after the convention. I asked them to hold me accountable using the Super Mario analogy. I told them to say, \u201cNathalie, how dare you steal my points?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My role this year is to let people earn their own points. To do their own punches. And to be right behind them, supporting them and supporting the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the year unfolds and we continue moving forward with the 2024\u20132027 strategic plan, we\u2019ll build on the incredible work Beverly Burman-King put in place. We\u2019ll make sure things get done\u2014while giving everyone the opportunity to grow, lead, and earn their points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m sharing this with you so you can hold me accountable too. Feel free to ask me, \u201cNathalie, are you being Super Mario right now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe this message applies to you as well\u2014with your team, your business, or even your children. Vous arrivez \u00e0 un niveau, un obstacle appara\u00eet, vous le frappez, vous gagnez des points&nbsp;et vous passez au niveau suivant. Puis un autre obstacle arrive, vous le frappez, vous gagnez encore des points et vous avancez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voici la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Je suis une personne d\u2019action. Je suis efficace. Je vais vite. Et cette ann\u00e9e, je me suis engag\u00e9e \u00e0 travailler sur mes \u00ab comp\u00e9tences Super Mario \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qu\u2019est-ce que \u00e7a veut dire?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c7a veut dire que lorsqu\u2019un membre du conseil fait face \u00e0 un obstacle, je ne vais pas passer devant lui pour faire le coup \u00e0 sa place. Parce que si je le fais, c\u2019est moi qui gagne les points et qui passe au niveau suivant \u2014 pendant que l\u2019autre reste derri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Et si je continue ainsi, encore et encore, je monte les niveaux pendant que les autres n\u2019ont pas la chance de gagner leurs propres points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs la toute&nbsp;premi\u00e8re chose que j\u2019ai abord\u00e9e lors de notre premi\u00e8re rencontre du conseil, le mercredi suivant la fin du congr\u00e8s. Je leur ai demand\u00e9 de me tenir responsable avec l\u2019analogie de Super Mario. Je leur ai dit de me rappeler \u00e0 l\u2019ordre en me disant :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab Nathalie, comment oses-tu voler mes points? \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mon r\u00f4le cette ann\u00e9e est de laisser les gens gagner leurs propres points. De faire leurs propres coups. Et d\u2019\u00eatre derri\u00e8re eux pour les soutenir, eux et l\u2019\u00e9quipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au fil de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, alors que nous poursuivrons le plan strat\u00e9gique 2024\u20132027, nous continuerons le travail remarquable amorc\u00e9 par Beverly Burman-King.
