\nA resilience expert\, coach\, and author\, Mark helps people break through limitations and develop resilience so they can thrive through challenge and change.Mark doesn’t just teach resilience\, he embodies it. Born with a life-threatening heart defect\, Mark underwent two open-heart surgeries before the age of one. He battled his condition and its limitations for twenty-two years until he was forced to deal with the biggest obstacle of his young life. His doctor informed him that his heart was failing\, and without a rare and dangerous heart and double-lung transplant\, he would not see his 25th birthday. \nIn 2002\, Mark was fortunate that a suitable donor was found. He not only survived the surgery\, but less than 3 years later\, Mark became the only man in history to run a marathon with someone else’s heart and lungs. Then he did it three more times. \nMark is a Certified Speaking Professional\, a designation held by less than 1500 speakers in the world. He has inspired more than 175\,000 people in more than 850 presentations\, and has worked with global brands including ExxonMobil and Mercedes Benz\, as well as many national and regional associations. \nMark lives in Moncton\, New Brunswick\, Canada where he spends as much time as possible with the most important people in his life; his wife Marise and their three children; Emma\, Matteo\, and Caleb.

Norm practiced law in Ottawa from 1981 to 2018\, and before that was a teacher. Norm earned his JD (Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1979 and his Master of Laws from York University. Along the way he acquired his Trademark Agent designation\, as well as that of the Trust and Estate Professional. Norm does not profess to have the IP depth of Marcus\, but along his journey assisted in drafting some really interesting patents and litigated some pretty wild patent and copyright infringement cases\, including one which tangentially involved chasing cows through Saskatchewan mud.\n\n\n\nMarcus Gallie \nMarcus Gallie is an intellectual property lawyer practising in Ottawa. Called to the Bar in 1989\, he was also registered as a Patent Agent and as a Trademark Agent in 1992. He holds both an LLB and a Master of Law.  Prior to his legal career\, Marc obtained a B.Sc and an M.Sc. in the Environmental Science area. \nSince 2008\, he has been the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Patent Reporter\, roughly the legal equivalent of having your HoF and CSP. A member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the International Trademark Association\, he has also served on the Patent Agents Examination Board. He is considered one of the foremost IP lawyers in Canada and has extensively presented nationally and internationally. \nMarc was a Partner for over 20 years in one of Canada’s oldest Intellectual Property Practices until its acquisition by a publicly traded company in 2023.  He is now on gardening leave until he resumes practice in early spring.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:The Successful Book Project - A Virtual Event!
DESCRIPTION:The Successful Book Project: A Play in Three Acts \nAct One – Imagination to Manuscript \nAct Two – Editing\, Designing\, Delivery \nAct Three – Releasing to the World \nActing roles to be filled: the Publisher\, the Editor\, the Author \nMost professional speakers understand the value of a well-written\, well-edited\, well-designed book as a support to their overall business. However\, bringing out a meaningful\, marketable\, readable book is not as easy as some would make it seem. \nTo ensure you deliver on a standing ovation\, it is essential to understand not only the roles involved in the play but the relationships between each character. Unlike a play upon a stage\, there is blurring between the ending of one act and the beginning of the next\, but all three acts of the play must be included in a successful book project. \nWhether you play the role of author\, publisher\, or editor (or all three)\, each role demands a specific mindset and completion of deliverables. \nIn this keynote\, learn the essentials of creating a meaningful\, marketable\, readable book that will support your speaking and your overall business model. \nDuring her 30-year career as a professional speaker on the topics of leadership and diversity\, Jeanne Martinson wrote more than a dozen books. In the past six years\, as Publisher of Wood Dragon Books\, she has assisted more than 45 authors bring over 70 books to the market. See more about her at www.wooddragonbooks.com

SUMMARY:Behind The Mic - Winning Corporate Business
DESCRIPTION:Winning corporate business requires understanding how leaders think\, what challenges they face\, and where external partners can add value. \nIn this one-hour virtual session\, hosts Rob Rudy and Ross Saunders sit down with Paul Bognar for a live Q&A on leading and growing a national service business. Paul will briefly share his leadership context\, followed by a focused discussion on the real pressures companies face today. \nThe conversation will explore issues such as managing a people-driven operation with high turnover\, maintaining service consistency across multiple locations\, responding to instant customer feedback\, competing in crowded markets\, and navigating rising costs and uncertainty. It will also look at how organizations continue to evolve as customer behaviour shifts. \nEach challenge will be examined through a practical lens. Where is the opportunity for a speaker\, trainer\, or advisor to help? What problems are worth solving? What topics matter? How do you approach a company like this and get in front of decision-makers \nThe session is primarily Q&A\, with Rob and Ross leading the discussion and participants contributing questions through the chat. The goal is to help members connect real business challenges to clear opportunities for their work. \nParticipants will leave with a sharper view on how to position themselves\, how to align their expertise to actual needs\, and how to engage corporate clients in a way that leads to meaningful work. \n \n  \n\n\n\n\nPaul Bognar \nPaul J. Bognar is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Service Inspired Restaurants.
