SUMMARY:How to Land a TEDx Talk & Spread Your Message to Millions In As Little As 30 Days...
DESCRIPTION:Do you know what separates the top 1% of entrepreneurs\, coaches\, and experts in the industry… from everyone else? \nAuthority.  \nAnd there is no quicker way to establish authority and credibility than to be seen speaking from the stage. \n(I’ve been speaking for years\, and it has been one of the most impactful things I’ve done to grow my coaching practice.) \nSo why don’t more people get on stages and start speaking? \nFrankly… most people don’t know how. \nAnd because I know just how powerful speaking can be to your career\, I went out in search of someone who is one of the best in the world at helping coaches and purpose-driven entrepreneurs take their expertise\, craft it into a compelling message\, and share it on stages. \n \nAnd it just so happens that this person is not only an expert at helping people turn their expertise into compelling\, viral-worthy talks… \nBut he and his team also help people land speeches on one of the most influential and widely-viewed stages in the world… TEDx. \nHis name is Taylor Conroy\, and his company Thought Leader has helped over 650 clients (and counting!) land TEDx talks and spread their message to millions of people. \n(In fact\, they guarantee it). \nHe’s broken this process down into a science (Taylor himself has spoken at TEDx 4 times)\, and I’ve convinced him to share his entire process with us LIVE on November 20th\, 2025\, at 7:00 PM ET. \nIf you’ve ever wanted to turn your expertise into a ready-to-share message from stages… \nOr you’ve ever wondered what it actually takes to be invited to speak at a TEDx stage… \nThis webinar is for you. \n \nQuestionnaire —  https://leadr.co/caps \nWe’re excited to learn more about you and your goals. Completing this short questionnaire helps us understand your objectives so we can ensure our time together is valuable and focused on you. \n  \nAbout Taylor Conroy \nTaylor Conroy is a meditating surfer obsessed with building businesses that make change. His first social enterprise\, Change Heroes\, mobilized people in 80 countries to fund and build  \n400 schools\, water projects\, libraries\, girls scholarships\, anti-sex trafficking work\, and more for 200\,000 people around the world. \nHe has lectured at Harvard\, Princeton\, NYU\, Cornell\, and the United Nations on the subject of social enterprise (How to make money while making profound impact in the world)\, and regularly presents to corporate audiences like Disney\, Pfizer\, Lululemon\, KPMG\, and Morgan Stanley\, as well as social good events with audiences of 10\,000+. \nTaylor has been a professional firefighter\, a real estate entrepreneur\, and a bodybuilder; he has studied with Zen monks in Japan\, run with the bulls in Spain\, has explored every continent on earth including Antarctica\, has surfed the longest wave in the world in Peru\, and has filmed mini-documentaries in the red light district of Cambodia to combat sex trafficking\, the Ecuadorian Amazon to catalyze microfinance\, and the jungles of Uganda as an activist for human rights. \nTaylor is the co-founder of Thought-Leader\, where he works with entrepreneurs\, professionals\, and change-makers to get their message out into the world by leveraging the power of speaking from the world’s biggest stages like TEDx. He has spoken on the TEDx stage 4 times and to date has helped over 550 people land TEDx talks of their own. \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Protecting Your Livelihood: Intellectual Property Law for Professional Speakers
DESCRIPTION:This month on CAPS Behind the Mic\, CAPS Member Norm Bowley and Marcus Gallie will take us through a high-level overview of intellectual property and related law\, then a drill-down into the major concerns of speakers in terms of protecting their copyright and trademarks\, and avoiding infringement on the property of others. We will conduct a tour d’horizon of the issues and provide practical insights both for protection and avoidance of infringing the rights of others. A high-level overview of intellectual property and related law\, then a drill-down into the major concerns of speakers in terms of protecting their copyright and trademarks\, and avoiding infringement on the rights of others. CAPS member Norm Bowley and former colleague IP specialist Marcus Gallie will conduct a tour d’horizon of the issues and provide practical insights both for protection and avoidance of infringing the rights of others. Q&A. \n \n  \n\n\n\n\nNorman Bowley \nNorm Bowley is a CAPS member who teaches primarily on professional excellence and communication. Norm practiced law in Ottawa from 1981 to 2018\, and before that was a teacher. Norm earned his JD (Cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1979 and his Master of Laws from York University. Along the way he acquired his Trademark Agent designation\, as well as that of the Trust and Estate Professional. Norm does not profess to have the IP depth of Marcus\, but along his journey assisted in drafting some really interesting patents and litigated some pretty wild patent and copyright infringement cases\, including one which tangentially involved chasing cows through Saskatchewan mud.\n\n\n\nMarcus Gallie \nMarcus Gallie is an intellectual property lawyer practising in Ottawa. Called to the Bar in 1989\, he was also registered as a Patent Agent and as a Trademark Agent in 1992. He holds both an LLB and a Master of Law.  Prior to his legal career\, Marc obtained a B.Sc and an M.Sc. in the Environmental Science area. \nSince 2008\, he has been the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Patent Reporter\, roughly the legal equivalent of having your HoF and CSP. A member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the International Trademark Association\, he has also served on the Patent Agents Examination Board. He is considered one of the foremost IP lawyers in Canada and has extensively presented nationally and internationally. \nMarc was a Partner for over 20 years in one of Canada’s oldest Intellectual Property Practices until its acquisition by a publicly traded company in 2023.  He is now on gardening leave until he resumes practice in early spring.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Behind The Mic - Open Innovation - Here\, there and everywhere
DESCRIPTION:Join hosts Rob Rudy and Ross Saunders with Mike Rubenstein for a conversation on how innovation actually gets applied — from leading the innovation team across Rio Tinto Alcan\, where Mike built his understanding\, to the smaller companies across different industries where he’s applied it since. The takeaways are industry agnostic.\nFor our members —  trainers\, keynote speakers\, coaches\, consultants\,  the conversation turns to how we bring that same innovation into our own businesses\, so clients keep choosing us\, no matter which industry we’re each in. \n \nSession Title:\nOpen Innovation – “Here\, there and everywhere” \nSession Description \nOpen innovation recognizes that world-class ideas rarely observe corporate boundary lines. Instead of relying exclusively on centralized R&D labs\, modern organizations activate an interconnected ecosystem—unlocking insights from internal workforces\, supply chains\, customer bases\, and global technology networks. \nCore Pillars of the Ecosystem \n\nEmployees as Internal Consumers: Workers engage with products\, packaging\, and workflows daily as end-users. Tapping into front-line workforce insights yields rapid\, low-friction feedback on operational bottlenecks\, usability\, and product improvements before reaching the market.\nSuppliers & Value-Chain Partners: Co-developing solutions with material\, equipment\, and logistics suppliers shifts relationships from transactional procurement to strategic co-creation\, accelerating speed-to-market and lowering technical risk.\nExternal Innovation Networks: Partnering with startups\, research universities\, and specialized technology hubs grants direct access to specialized IP\, emerging science\, and agile development capabilities.\nCustomer & User Communities: Involving corporate customers early through joint development initiatives ensures alignment with real-world demand and market adoption goals.\n\n \nMichael Rubenstein is currently President & CEO of Rubenstein& Advisory\, a boutique advisory firm helping companies reach their full potential through strategy\, culture\, change management\, leadership development\, operational excellence and value creation. \nHe serves as Independent Board Chairman of Freshr Technologies\, a Board Observer for Vision Group\, and an Advisory Board Member of Hyperion Global Cities. He was previously a Director of Art Souterrain\, a non-profit organization whose mission is to make art more accessible\, and an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of Scotia Investments Ltd. and Blomidon Investments\, overseeing seven companies in biomedical\, energy\, recycling and packaging. \nMost recently\, he was Operating Partner\, Private Equity Québec for CDPQ\, the third-largest pension fund manager in the world\, where he worked with CEOs and leadership teams of portfolio companies to maximize value across the investment lifecycle\, including M&A activity\, strategy\, operating models\, human capital and ESG. \nPrior\, he was President and CEO of Biomod\, a biotech company whose patented technology was used in the manufacturing of dry facial masks. Previously\, he was Chief Operating Officer of Magil Laurentienne\, a Montreal-based\, integrated real estate company\, where he led a culture change\, restructured the organization and drove significant development projects. \nMichael held senior leadership roles in the packaging industry with Rio Tinto’s Alcan Packaging\, a US$6.5 billion world leader in specialty packaging with 131 facilities and 29\,000 team members in 31 countries. As Chief Growth and Innovation Officer\, he created the company’s Growth and Innovation vision and spearheaded a Global Account Management model with partners including Johnson & Johnson\, Kraft\, Unilever\, Danone and Procter & Gamble\, signing $350 million in multi-year global contracts.
