The Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), is Canada's leading association for 'experts who speak professionally in Canada. CAPS' members include experts in a variety of industries and disciplines who reach audiences as trainers, facilitators, keynoters, educators, humorists, motivators, consultants, authors and more. Since its inception in 1997, CAPS has provided resources and education designed to advance the skills, integrity and value of its members and the speaking industry. CAPS has grown to a network of 10 Chapters across Canada with meetings occurring monthly.

Prior to the late 1980’s, many professional speakers in Canada belonged as individual members to the National Speakers Association in the US (NSA). At that time an NSA chapter was formed in Ontario (there had also previously been an NSA chapter in Calgary). CAPS was formed as an autonomous national organization in 1997, with several sub-Chapters across the country. and that same year was a founding member of the Global Speakers Federation.

Founding members of the GSF include: National Speakers Association - NSA (USA), the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers - CAPS (Canada), NSA-AUS (Australia), and NSA-NZ (New Zealand). The Federation has since expanded to include the Professional Speakers Association - PSA (Europe) and has interest from the Baltics, Malaysia and other countries.

Our flagship event, the CAPS National Convention, will be held in Montreal, QC on December 5-7, 2010. This will be a spectacular event with opportunities to Meet the Pros, build your business and presentation skills. Our 14th annual CAPS Convention will draw professional speakers from around the world. For more information, visit our National Convention Information link. CAPS Chapters are based in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, South Western Ontario, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

With over 560 national members, CAPS has expanded its vision and its ability to serve the professional speaking community and provide leadership in the speaking industry across Canada. Our Mission is to 'build the profile and professionalism of our members'. Our Vision is "to be the association of experts who speak professionally". Our membership and profile are growing rapidly.
