The Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), is Canada's leading association for 'experts who speak professionally in Canada. CAPS' members include experts in a variety of industries and disciplines who reach audiences as trainers, facilitators, keynoters, educators, humorists, motivators, consultants, authors and more. Since its inception in 1997, CAPS has provided resources and education designed to advance the skills, integrity and value of its members and the speaking industry. CAPS has grown to a network of 10 Chapters across Canada with meetings occurring monthly.
Prior to 1997, many professional speakers in Canada belonged to the National Speakers Association (NSA). CAPS got its start as an NSA Chapter with several sub-Chapters across the country. CAPS came into its own as an autonomous national organization with the creation of the International Federation of Professional Speakers.
Founding members of the IFPS include: National Speakers Association - NSA (USA), the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers - CAPS (Canada), NSA-AUS (Australia), and NSA-NZ (New Zealand). The Federation has since expanded to include the Professional Speakers Association - PSA (Europe) and has interest from the Baltics, Malaysia and other countries.
